Part Time Activities Assistant

Bayview Retirement Community has need of a Part-Time Activities Assistant to join our fantastic team in our skilled nursing facility. The position will be Saturdays with frequent on-call hours available. Excellent English, interpersonal skills and experience working with seniors is required. Must also be independent and able to lead quality programs. Caregiver training is a plus!

Part-Time Server

Bayview Retirement Community located on Lower Queen Anne is looking for a part-time server.

The desired candidates should posses:

  • One or more years of experience working in a Food Service type setting or dealing directly with customers
  • Ability to tolerate and diffuse angry or aggressive behavior of customers, some of whom may suffer from short-term memory loss
  • Ability to communicate in English with residents, staff and managers
  • Ability to read and write menu items in English
  • Familiarity with safe food handling practices and regulations
  • Holds current State of Washington Food Handler's permit
  • Demonstrates patience, flexibility, a positive outlook, the ability to focus on the strengths of other people, and a healthy sense of humor.

This position is approximately 15-20hrs/week with potential for moreSomeone that is available days and evenings is preferred.

Part-Time Receptionist

Bayview Retirement Community located on lower Queen Anne has an excellent part-time opportunity for two experienced week-end Receptionists. Hours are Saturday and Sunday morning 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Sunday evening from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On-call hours are also available to fill in for absences and vacations.

The Receptionist greets and responds to all residents, employees and guests of Bayview Retirement Community in a cheerful manner, creating a warm, welcoming and supporting atmosphere. In addition the Receptionist answers the main telephone line, responds to questions or, as needed, transfers calls to the appropriate party. The Receptionist also performs daily tasks including miscellaneous bookkeeping, clerical and other administrative support duties.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English with clarity and accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, understanding the concept of outstanding service.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
    Excellent problem solving skills for immediate response to any number of issues that may be expected at a reception desk including security issues, and high stress emergency situations.
  • Must be very organized and able to remain calm under most reception desk situations.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft applications.
  • Creative, resourceful and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Prior experience in hospitality industry or retirement facility desirable.

On-Call Van Driver (Lower Queen Anne)

Bayview Retirement Community is looking for an on-call van driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for elderly adults on Sundays approximately 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the regular scheduled hours this position will also be asked to provide back-up to the weekday Van Driver as availability allows.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum five years driving experience (does not have to be professional)
  • Must have current Washington State drivers license
  • Must possess or obtain a current medical card and Class B CDL license
  • No at-fault accidents or moving violations within the last 3 years

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Communicate via radio using proper radio procedures and follow directions given by dispatch or supervisor
  • Possess a functional knowledge of the service area geography; ability to read maps
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and in emergency situations
  • Must have an above average amount of patience and sincere desire to work with the clients served
  • Safely drive a 22 foot bus or van over specified routes as assigned
  • Assist passengers into and out of the bus including pushing, pulling, loading and unloading wheelchairs and assisting passengers using ambulatory aids or are developmentally disabled.
  • Assist passengers to and from their front door, up and down steps, transferring to another transit vehicle
  • Carry packages or groceries, weighing up to 30 pounds, for passengers
  • Experience working with the elderly or disabled preferred.
