Bayview Wellness Center Programs

Personal Training:  We work with you individually to give you the personal attention and guidance you need. We will design a program with you that you will enjoy and that will help you increase strength, flexibility, endurance and balance.

Coaching: Wellness Coaching will help you improve your performance and meet your goals. Coaching provides the support you need to make sustainable changes in your health habits. Coaching will empower you to succeed on your own terms. It is available for all Wellness Center members.

Health Education: We offer monthly Health Chats with guest speakers on various senior health issues, Healthy Habits For Life (a 12 week course), National Senior Health & Fitness Day Fair, and the Wellness Center Library with many health resources.

Support Groups: Several groups meet regularly including a chronic pain support group, vision support group, and healthy habits peer support groups.

Prevention Services: Monthly Hearing screens are available through Sound Associates. Annual Health Fair Screens include: osteoporosis, pulmonary function, balance, memory, blood pressure, back, foot and alignment screens.

Alternative therapies: Our consultants are certified and licensed professionals, offering Massage, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Rolfing and Aqua Therapy. There is a separate fee for these therapies.

Sound Steps: This is an independent walking program open to all members. Once a week our van goes to one of many beautiful walking paths in the city, so you can walk and enjoy the scenery, as you stay fit.

National Senior Health Fair: is an annual event, which brings together multiple senior health resources. We have information booths from national health education and promotion organizations, and many free health screens by local providers. This health fair is part of a national movement to promote a healthy lifestyle for all seniors. You’ll also enjoy fun, food, entertainment and prizes.

Rehabilitation
We provide seamless integration with our rehabilitation services. When residents or community seniors have been discharged from rehabilitation they can continue working with staff in the Wellness Center. We receive therapy discharge instructions, so we can help you stay motivated and follow your program.

Socializing and Fun:  During group classes there is always time for fun and socializing, while we move toward our fitness goals. We have special events throughout the year that also provide opportunities for socializing and fun.

Performance Measures: Twice a year we take time to do standardized fitness testing so you can keep track of your progress and compare your scores to national standards. This is a quick, fun and easy way to stay motivated.

Scholarship Program:
We have scholarships available to seniors from the community who would like to become members of the Wellness Center or take classes from us and are unable to pay the full amount of the membership fee.
