2008 Community Service Award
As a member of Aging Services of Washington, Bayview is delighted to have the support and friendship of 120 other similar organizations through Aging Services within the state.
Each year several awards are presented to Aging Services members that distinguish themselves in various categories. In 2008, Bayview Retirement Community was engaged in numerous community service activities that resulted in a nomination and receipt of the “Community Service award”.
This award recognizes the achievement of an Aging Services of Washington member that has demonstrated exceptional social accountability. It honors a commitment by volunteers, leadership and staff to meeting community needs as part of the organization’s overall mission and planning.
Bayview’s mission is: “Transforming the experience of aging by creating opportunities for healthy, spiritual and purposeful living for our residents, children, staff, and the greater community.”
For Bayview, Mission-Purposeful-Community is critical to our future success and viability, not only for Bayview, but for our entire community and Aging Services at-large.
In 2008 Bayview welcomed more than 300 individuals that had not visited us in the past (local residents, local businesses, government) to events hosted by Bayview. This does not include the hundreds of individuals and families that are served by Bayview in the service that is provided each and every day. From family memorial services to neighborhood events and volunteerism, Bayview is available to those that need and deserve our support.
It is clear that community relations, social accountability, and community service are complimentary and inseparable. Everything that we do enhances our position, visibility, integrity, and value within the greater Seattle community.
Bayview and its residents, through a volunteer group of more than 120 individuals, are serving, receiving, and enjoying more than 8,000 hours of annual volunteer activity. This is up 8% over last years pace and growing.
We appreciate the recognition and are committed to ongoing opportunities to serve and be an indispensable member of Seattle’s greater community.
Thank you Aging Services of Washington for honoring us with the 2008 Community Service Award.
