Grounded in Caring - Founded in Philanthropy

Bayview was founded in 1961 to care for the elderly residents of Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood and beyond. Early Seattleite Charles A. Kinnear bequeathed his family’s historic property to the First United Methodist Church for the care of older adults and children. The Methodist Church worked with the community to create a ten-story residential facility, which was augmented in 1995 by a Wellness Center, Rehabilitation and Health Center, and Intergenerational Childcare Center. Today, Bayview Retirement Community is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. It maintains its affiliation with the Methodist Church, while embracing residents from many different faith traditions.

Today, the tradition continues with both need and opportunity being met through the kindness and generosity of many groups and individuals.  Opportunities to support Bayview and its mission are many. Today we continue to expand our services and support to our residents and the greater Seattle community via philanthropy.

Please contact Community Relations Director, Darrell Hughes to learn about opportunities in giving, volunteerism, and support for our senior residents and our outreach programs within our community.
