Bayview Wellness Center

Building optimal health, vitality & independence

Positive lifestyle choices

Bayview Wellness Center is a health promotion and fitness center for mature adults. We offer daily classes in the fitness studio, aquatic exercise in the warm water pool and personal training on strength and endurance equipment. All of our programs include ongoing support, personal guidance and education for positive lifestyle choices.

Our goals

We share a commitment to help each individual build optimal health, vitality and fitness. Our goal is to empower you to be successful in meeting your own personal goals. We give you the tools and personal guidance needed to help you realize your optimal wellness.

Our philosophy

Wellness means more than the absence of disease; it is a philosophy that fosters balance in all areas of our lives. Wellness encompasses mental, social, spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of our lives. Wellness involves all the lifestyle choices we make and learning what the best choices are for each of us.

Our staff

The most important component of a successful wellness center, besides our clients is the staff. The staff at Bayview Wellness Center have many years of experience, giving compassionate attention to the needs and goals of each individual. They have also completed extensive years of training in physical education, and are trained and certified fitness professionals who will give you the time and attention you need to succeed.

You will receive individual attention and personal help to develop your program. We will help you learn how to use equipment safely, effectively and comfortably. You can always consult us about your questions and you can make appointments with us to monitor your program and to make changes.

Our classes

We offer daily exercise classes for strength, flexibility, endurance, fall prevention, and stress management. The classes are progressive and each person works at their own pace. We emphasize fun and enjoyment as well as good body mechanics and injury prevention.

Our aquatics classes

We offer daily Arthritis Foundation Aquatics classes in our warm water pool. These classes provide gentle range of motion exercises to help increase joint flexibility and muscle strength, while they help to reduce pain and stiffness.

Our equipment rooms

Our gym features Keiser pneumatic equipment, which is safer and more effective for seniors because it uses air resistance rather than iron weights. For this reason, Keiser equipment has been used almost exclusively in research on strength training for seniors. We also have a variety of aerobic equipment to help you build your endurance, including the NU-Step, treadmills, ellipse and recumbent bike. We will take the time needed to help each individual become familiar and comfortable with the equipment.

Why join Bayview Wellness Center?

Would you like to have more vitality, be stronger and healthier? If you are like many seniors, you may feel that as you age you have less energy and strength to do the things you have always done. This doesn’t have to happen to you! You do have a choice! In fact, scientists have found that loss of muscular strength and mental acuity are not inevitable results of aging.

You can get significant health benefits by engaging in moderate physical activity almost daily. Also, physically active lifestyles have been proven to protect us from traditional diseases and chronic conditions associated with aging such as:

Depression                           Obesity                    Diabetes

Osteoporosis                        Arthritis                    Heart disease

High blood pressure              Cancer                      High cholesterol

Those who lead a sedentary lifestyle greatly increase their risk of falls and of becoming dependent on others for their care. Physical activity is important for the health of muscles, bones, and joints as well as our general well being. Through a modest increase in daily activity, most people can improve their health and quality of life and remain independent and vital throughout their life.
