Bayview’s Intergenerational Children’s Center’s approach to early childhood education employs an interconnected web of educational practices anchored by our understanding of children as being curious, eager to explore, competent and resourceful, and full of wonder. We offer a program that challenges young minds to stretch and grow. With dignity and respect for each child, we provide a loving and nurturing environment, including meeting the developmental, nutritional, health and safety needs of each child. Children have a unique opportunity for interactions with Bayview residents. Accompanied by the teacher, children participate in planned and spontaneous activities throughout the facility. With those interactions, the children and the residents increase meaningful and beneficial connections between the generations. A curriculum that fosters positive attitudes towards age, disabilities and seniors are integrated into the life of the center. As children interact on a daily basis with the “grandmas and the grandpas,” they bring joy to all.
With four classrooms, our center serves 44 children, ages three months to five years old. We have a spacious indoor play area, a secured outdoor playground, and a bike terrace which includes riding toys and helmets. Teachers serve as facilitators and coaches to guide them along in meeting their developmental milestones.
Our hours of operation are 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Tours of the center can be arranged by calling (206) 281-5786.
