Bayview Wellness & Fitness Center is a health promotion and fitness center tailored to meet the needs of mature adults. Membership is available to all our residents and to the general public, and includes all classes, programs and many services. Membership includes daily classes in the fitness studio, aquatic exercise classes in our warm-water saline pool, and personal training on our user-friendly exercise equipment. Membership also includes ongoing support, individual attention, wellness coaching, and health education for positive lifestyle choices.
A holistic wellness approach focuses on building optimal health and well-being for each person. Wellness involves all the lifestyle choices we make, and learning what the best choices are for each of us. Wellness encompasses the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of our lives. It is a philosophy that supports life balance through prevention and health promotion with a multi-dimensional approach to all the aspects of our lives.
We believe that every single person can improve the quality of their lives by participating in the programs and services we offer; from Mind and Memory to Tai Chi, from Line Dancing to Lunch and Learn, from pool classes to meditation. There’s something for everyone! We believe you can take control of your health and make a huge difference in what you are capable of doing, and how you feel every day. We also believe that it’s not about radical changes, it’s about taking baby steps within your comfort range…and as with every journey, it begins with taking the first step, and continues with our support for each step you take along the way.

The most important component of a successful wellness center, besides our clients, is the staff. All of the staff members at Bayview Wellness and Fitness Center have many years of experience, with a thorough understanding of the unique needs of mature adults. They have completed extensive years of training in physical education, and are trained and certified health and fitness professionals who will give you the time and guidance you need to succeed.
You will receive personal, one to one attention to design and maintain a program that really works for you. The staff will help you learn how to use the exercise equipment safely, effectively and comfortably. You can make appointments Monday through Friday to consult with staff about questions, or to monitor your program as needed.
We offer a wide variety of classes for beginners and more advanced students. All classes are ongoing and progressive, so you can start any time and work at your level and your pace. Classes are small so we can provide careful guidance for each person. We offer 22 classes to choose from Monday through Friday. Please see our class descriptions and schedule. Our classes focus on all the dimensions of wellness and emphasize fun and enjoyment.
We offer Arthritis Foundation Aquatics and Water Walking classes in our warm water pool. These classes provide gentle range of motion exercises to increase joint flexibility and muscle strength, while helping to reduce pain and stiffness.
Our gym features Keiser pneumatic strength training equipment, which is safer and more effective for seniors because it uses air resistance rather than iron weights. You can change the weight with the touch of a button. For these reasons, Keiser equipment has been used almost exclusively in research on strength training for seniors. We also have a wide variety of aerobic equipment to help you build your endurance, including treadmills, NU-Step recumbent stair steppers, Bio-Step recumbent elliptical, rowing machine and the Ellipse. Staff will take the time needed to help each individual become familiar and comfortable with the equipment.
